1950
In the early 1950's, the initial foundation of Pizza Man, began with Chicken Delight. As they introduced pizza to the menu, they created a sub-brand named Chicken Delight - Pizza Man.
1964 - 1981
The first Pizza Man location was established in 1964 in Hollywood, CA.
In 1979, we filed for federal trademark protection, and in 1981, Pizza Man became an officially registered trademark.
1980
Robert Ohanian joined the Pizza Man family in 1980 when he purchased the Redondo Beach location. His success led him to acquire and develop the Panorama City and Sherman Oaks stores, which he later sold to new franchisees as the brand continued to grow.
1986
On January 15, 1986, Robert built the La Crescenta location from the ground up - a store that continues serving the community nearly 40 years later. Throughout this period, he remained committed to expanding Pizza Man's footprint, acquiring and developing locations before transitioning them to franchisees who shared his vision for quality.
Late 1980's-Early 1990's
The late 1980s brought a legal challenge that resulted in Pizza Man and Chicken Delight parting ways. By the early 1990s, all locations had fully transitioned to operating exclusively under the Pizza Man name.
1995
In 1995, Robert Ohanian acquired the entire Pizza Man franchise, including its central distribution facility and all 45 franchise locations across Southern California.
2022
In October 2022, Pizza Man reopened in Van Nuys after nearly a year of renovation, unveiling an entirely new concept for the brand. The relaunch featured a reimagined menu, updated logo, and a refined approach that honors our 1964 roots while meeting today's standards. This modern Pizza Man concept now sets the standard for all our locations and future growth.
2023
In February 2023, the Eagle Rock location fully embraced the new concept, solidifying Pizza Man's modern direction across the brand.
2025
In January 2025, Hayk Igraryan took ownership of Pizza Man with a clear mission: honor the brand's heritage while elevating every detail. From location renovations to menu enhancements and an improved customer experience, Pizza Man is evolving to serve Los Angeles even better.
Today
With four locations across Los Angeles - Westwood, Glendale, La Crescenta, and Eagle Rock - Pizza Man continues the tradition that started in 1964. Our focus on quality, innovation, and customer satisfaction positions us for thoughtful growth while staying true to what's made us a neighborhood staple for six decades.
